Franklin Display on the U.S.S. Hornet2004Click on one of the thumbnails below to see a larger version of the photo! March 21, 2004: In what was the Crew's Lounge of the USS Hornet, an historic display has been established to honor the Hornet's sister ship, the USS Franklin, which was bombed off the coast of Japan on March 19, 1945; an event that cost over 900 lives and almost sank the ship. The Mountaineers sponsored work parties to help create the "Franklin Display" and were recognized for their work at the March 19 dedication ceremony conducted on the Hornet. Participants in this project were Kyle McKenzie, Tom Martin, Brian Fukuhara, Nathaniel Gamsky, Richard Carrick, Kit Hansen, Eddie Janowicz, Matt Smith, Dan Roth, James Fok, Kiran Sathaye, Matt Breismeister, Andrew Thorpe, Spencer Piatt, Jordan Shively, Joe Howard, Tim Mahoney, Patrick Janowicz, Michael Gregory, Glenn Martin, Tony McKenzie, and Louise McKenzie.
