Tom “Mac” McIntosh

Tom “Mac” McIntosh (Scoutmaster 1974-2008) joined the troop in 1972 as an Assistant Scoutmaster, and in 1974 was asked by Pop to be his successor. In many ways, Mac shaped Troop 212 into what it is today; overseeing the establishment of the high adventure program, moving wilderness camp to Camp Timberwolf, and maintaining stability in the troop for over 3 decades.

Mac mentored over 1,000 scouts and oversaw over 300 new Eagle Scouts during his tenure. Mac’s enduring influence can still be seen in the traditions of the troop and the adult leaders; many went through the troop during his time and chose to return, serving as ASMs and merit badge counselors.

Gary “Mario!” Kaprelian

Troop 212 was blessed to have Gary “Mario!” Kaprelian as an Assistant Scoutmaster (2002-2022). Mario! was an Eagle Scout and ultimate outdoorsman who helped lead the troop’s High Adventure program, teaching everything from packing a backpack to digging a cathole. Mario!’s mentoring extended to his role as the coach of Campolindo Junior Varsity baseball for 15 years.

Mario! engaged scouts with encouragement, discipline, humor and a language all of his own, sprinkled with references to baseball stars of the past and trail meals. Mario! loved his family and enjoyed nothing more than fishing and camping with his sons Kevin and Kenny. Mario! was a team player who always gave more than he took.
