The Mountaineers

The Mountaineers are an honor society within Troop 212 dedicated to upholding and developing high standards in scouting skills, leadership, character, service, and adherence to both the Scout Oath and Law. The Mountaineers were founded in 1964 by John Clarke, Gary Fiset, Tom Hacker, Tom Hermansen, and Bill Loomis, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Tom “Pop” Clarke.

Becoming a Mountaineer is one of the highest honors within Troop 212. Candidates must be elected by their peers in the troop and complete an Ordeal. Throughout the year, the Mountaineers participate in a variety of service events to benefit both the troop and the larger community, such as the Opening and Closing Work Parties for Camp Timberwolf.
